Childhood Enhancement through Training and Action (CHETNA) is a Delhi based NGO working on the issue of Street and Working children with a special focus on the girl child. Founded on 8th March 2003 CHETNA believe that exploited, defenseless and extremely vulnerable children living on the streets have a right to their dignity; this can be achieved through direct participation of children.

Our existence is in response to two significant factors;

• Inadequate support to empower street and working children, especially girls and;
• Lack of child friendly system and society.

CHETNA has been working on the issue of street & working children with rights based approach. It is clearly seen from the interventions, which CHETNA has made in the life of children through building their institutions - support groups and federation. Street children prioritize their issues in their support groups and federation meetings and design program accordingly. This is good governance in true sense and participation of children at highest levels. Besides, whole program of CHETNA is designed taking their direct participation in the program formulation and planning.
