An NGO Working With And For Children In Delhi & Beyond

Who We Are:
Philosophy:
In Hindi, ‘chetna‘ means ‘awareness‘. As an abbreviation, CHETNA stands for ‘Childhood Enhancement through Training and Action’. For we believe that direct Action for immediate relief and Training towards self-sufficiency in the long run can effectively help only if they are combined. Hence, we include both aspects in our approach to Child Empowerment. Furthermore, persons playing a significant role in the development of the child are also offered training, enabling them to be more actively child-friendly. (See What We Do and How)
Organization:
Our Non-Government Organization (NGO) strives to create an accepting and respectful environment for all children, especially those who do not have the privilege of growing up in a loving family or with apt caretakers. It was founded in early 2002 and is registered under the Indian Public Charitable Trust Act.
Team:
CHETNA’s Projects are implemented by a team of experienced social workers and dedicated paraprofessionals, some of whom are former street children who worked their way out of destitution with the NGO’s assistance. Our team is gender-balanced and comprises people of various creeds at all levels.
